Prehistoric Fossils

Tagged:  Exogyra Costata

Exogyra Costata from the Late Cretaceous Period,
66 million to 100 million year ago.
Weight 1.9 lbs., 5"L x 4-1/4"W x 2-1/2"H
Collected from the North Sulphur River in N.E. Texas.
This specimen has most of its top shell intact, which is rare to find. The larger part commonly seen is actually the bottom, since it rested on the shallow sea floor, while the smaller part opened to intake nutrients, as do modern day oysters.

My artwork involves using the wood from trees to make Hiking Sticks and Bark-on-Board Art. My wish is to call attention and veneration to the trees and their need to sustain our planet. Attached to each is my emblem: Quirky Stix, crafted by W. Anderson Wright in gold with black lettering. Each is one-of-a-kind and thusly, unique.
